Arc Dream Publishing has released the first ebook edition of Dan Harms' Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia.
From the press release:
As a great man once said:
"...some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." -- H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu
That day is here. The Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia explains every mind-blasting facet of the Cthulhu Mythos envisioned by H.P. Lovecraft and expanded by countless horror writers and gamers in the decades since the master's death.
Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia author Dan Harms said about the ebook edition: "It's amazing to me how people still tell me how much they appreciate the Encyclopedia, even fifteen years after the first edition. Authors and gamers alike tell me how it has enriched their creative works by providing them with a quick reference to the wonderful, horrific world of the Cthulhu Mythos. I hope the new e-book edition will be valuable to both old and new fans."
From "Abbith" to "Zylac," with in-depth stops along the way for the likes of "Azathoth" and "Yog-Sothoth," the Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia painstakingly pieces together disassociated knowledge of every last Thing Which Man Was Not Meant to Know.
And now it's digital, with a comprehensive linked table of contents and the built-in searchability of e-readers. You will go mad from revelation faster than ever before.
This is a pretty sweet use of the ebook technology. I know a lot of people haven't jumped on board with ereading yet (as many still prefer the "real" book), but I have and I love it. Something like this will only encourage not just more adopters, but also hopefully more publishers to do something like it.
