In the town of Bartlett, just outside of Saint Charles, Illinois, is Munger Road, a road that is rich in urban legend. Rumor has it that if you stop your car on the train tracks that cut across Munger Road and put it neutral, something will push your car to safety. If you are ambitious enough and put some flour or powder on your back bumper, you'll later find little handprints in the powder. Word on the street is its the ghosts of the children who were killed by a train over three decades ago.
In addition to that freaky going on, according to the press release, the only unsolved murder mysteries in the entire county since the 1980s are tied to that road. You know a movie was inevitable.
Munger Road from Insomnia Productions makes its debut on DVD, Digital Download and Video On-Demand September 11th through Freestyle Digital Media LLC (FDM). Written and directed by Nicholas Smith and produced by Kyle Heller, the film stars Bruce Davison (X-Men, Luck), Randall Batinkoff (Kickass, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Trevor Morgan (The Sixth Sense), Lauren Storm (The Roommate), Hallock Beals and Brooke Peoples. Last year in its theatrical run by Freestyle Releasing, Munger Road raked in an impressive $30,000 plus per screen average in the Chicago area. The film is slated for release on September 11th.
Synopsis:
On the evening of October 7th, four teenagers from the town of Saint Charles, Illinois venture out to a dark, mysterious road where local legend is that the train tracks have been haunted for years.
Unbeknownst to them, while the small town prepares for their annual Scarecrow Festival the next day, a child murderer from the past has escaped imprisonment and his whereabouts are unknown.
The Police Chief and his Deputy begin a search in fear that the murderer has returned home.
At the same time; the teenagers become stuck on Munger Road…unable to call for help. As the police collect more suspicious evidence about the child murderer we slowly realize that the haunting of Munger Road is directly connected to his murderous past.
The race is on as the Chief realizes the teenagers are missing and could be in grave danger. As the police search for both the killer and the kids…they realize that the horror hasn't even begun yet.
