Carnival of Souls (Cinema Insomnia Slime Line) ($14.99 MSRP): Candace Hilligoss stars as a drag racing church organist who goes soul searching and finds herself drawn to the haunted Saltair Pavilion, where ghostly ghouls are waiting to punch her eternal dance card. This semi-artsy horror film was made by independent filmmaker Herk Harvey and a bunch of his pals, neighbors and business partners in Kansas and Utah. This thrice wrapped tale of "a stranger among the living" wanders throuh Mr. Lobo's wacky wrap-arounds, retro TV commercials, drive-in trailers and guest appearances.

Fight! Dragon: The Complete Series ($14.98 MSRP): Hong Kong 'villain' actor Yasuaki Kurata stars in this exciting Japanese superhero television program. Unlike other shows of the era, this is a more 'traditional' superhero program...minus the special effects and rubber monster suits! What sets Fight! Dragon apart from other Japanese TV shows of the era is the absence of the fantasy and monster elements and the emphasis on martial arts fighting. Filled with exciting karate fights, outrageous stunts and non-stop action, Fight! I couldn't find a trailer for Fight! Dragon, but I did find a fight scene from Call Me Dragon (also starring Yasuaki Kaurata).

A ton of releases this week, but nothing seems to jump out. Well...except for maybe those Chiba collections, and I'm afraid to get excited over those until I see the quality.
