What did you just watch (non-horror)?

If it's not horror, this is the place!

Awesome film (except for the ending).

Just wondering what you didn't like about the ending?

Was it that it was the
Spoiler:
typical sugar-coated 'they all lived happily ever after' scenario

Or that
Spoiler:
Neeson managed to walk away from all the carnage without issue, even after the French government had been involved and tried to send him packing?

Or something else?

Something else:

Spoiler:
It should have ended with some girl-on-girl action between Famke Janssen and Holly Valance ...

I disliked the 'they all lived happily ever after' scenario. An ending a bit more bleak would have fit the movie better.

Had a bout of Insomnia sunday late so I watched Taken on my PSP (too bored to hook up the cables to PC).

Like wow.

Easily the best actioner out of Besson's stable of quickies, along with Banlieue 13. Yes, there is enough nonsense here to make you hurl, but you cannot NOT enjoy Neeson going Chuck Norris on half of Parisian underworld.

Favorite scenes :

Spoiler:
1. Electric chair torture.
2. Shooting that frog's wife at the dinner table
3. No-nonsense diplomacy at the very end of the film..."we can nego.."BLAM.

Also saw Tropic Thunder yesterday. I dug all the references, but Ben Stiller is still a schmuck. Downey and Nolte are worth the ticket.

THE BLACK GESTAPO
A splinter cell of a black rights group adapt uniforms in the style of the SS. Donned in their new attire they kick the (white) mafia out of the city, and take over their gambling, prostitution and drug business. It all feels very gimmicky and tacked on. Montages of black "soldiers" parading in front of their "officers" with looped "Sieg Heil!" screams from Nazi rallies. That's as good as it gets in terms of meta-text. The uniforms and the film's title are just there to add shock value to an otherwise vanilla blaxploitation flick. Real bottom of the barrel (but fun for all the wrong reasons).

DAS KOMMANDO DER FRAUEN aka THE DOLL SQUAD
First Ted V. Mikels film I thoroughly enjoyed. I think I'll try to get my hands on some more of his non-horror films.

I just watched Speed Racer (after having it for like 3 months from NetFlix).

It's either the greatest movie ever, or the worst. I can't decide. But I'm leaning toward the latter, ever so slightly.

Saw the new Harry Potter movie in IMAX 3D today. Ticket only cost me six dollars; wasn't expecting that.

Great movie. I really enjoyed it.

Epic Movie. Worst spoof film I've ever seen in my life.
