First of all, this is The Strangers Thread and we were just posting about our views on this movie and then was told to get out. this has nothing to do with other threads or posts. . . and yes i'm all over other sites and have done a lot of research about forums and i always recommend other sites to a lot of the people i meet on these sites. Just don't take things so personal. geez. lighten up. its just the internet.

If you're looking for a horror site with an overwhelming amount of horror fans, I strongly recommend you register with Bloody Disgusting, Dread Central, Fangoria, or Upcoming Horror Movies. You'll fit right in because they have people coming and going at all hours of the day, and these same people never get two seconds to get to know each other because things are constantly changing and never slowing down.
When I originally joined HorrorTalk in 2004, it was because I really enjoyed the screenshots they posted and wanted to use them for my own movie reviews---on another message board. I didn't give HorrorTalk credit for it, and they called me out on it, which they should have. It was a shitty thing to do.
So I stopped using their screenshots, started posting more, got to know everybody, and eventually settled in enough to forget the other message board altogether. The moderators even offered me a spot on their reviewing staff, even after the way I treated this site when I first joined. Because unlike other horror message boards, our common interest is only a fraction of how and why things run smoothly around here. We're not registered users; we're people. We treat each other as such. Hell, what other website can you think of that has a Secret Santa!?
The point is, we always turn the shoulder a little bit on newer members the same way a parent would when their daughter walks in with a new boyfriend. The reason we do this is because we care about the website and don't want new people shitting on it with unwarranted promotions and advertisements.
HorrorTalk is not a blank billboard, and with only 53 cars on the road, it shouldn't be.

I now honestly wish I hadn't posted. Sham's post says it so much better, and more eloquently, then I could have ever wished for.
I personally prefer a small forum over a big one any day of the week for the reasons Sham mentioned. And, right now, HorrorTalk is the best of both worlds for me: A smallish forum where everyone knows everyone else, and enough news and review hits on the main site side to justify our fantastic contacts providing us with screeners.
Don't get me wrong, I would eagerly accept like-minded members with open arms, but I think I speak for everyone here that we don't appreciate people assuming we're stupid or using the board for their own gain without providing anything in return (be it intelligent conversation or, at the very least, humor).
Y'all are more than welcome here, but ffs don't get all pissy because you are called on how annoying the entrance was. Accept it and settle in.

Yeah, I just deleted my post after reading Sham's. Anytime you can get Sham to swear, you know he means serious business.
I will add...
Out of the 53 members, many of us are directors, producers, writers, actors or otherwise involved in creating horror. You can go to your local video rental store or Best Buy and see the films on the shelf. Most of us also know eachother and have met in real life, even though the 53 of us live all over the world. The small handful that haven't met anyone from the forum is only because the opportunity hasn't been there. At one point or another I've had addresses and phone numbers for most of them. Most of them have had mine. So, when you walk in to a room of people that know eachother, and start acting like immature jackasses, you're going to get treated like immature jackasses.
We know you're spammers, but we looked the other way and gave you a chance to become contributing members. This is what you've done with it.
