Wasn't the New Line original a Uwe Boll travesty, only less so?

New Line's first feature was also titled Alone in the Dark, I believe it was made in 1982 starring Martin Landau and Jack Palance. Its an awesome slasher about three escaped loonies that suspect their new doctor of killing their old one, so they stalk him and his family in their isolated house. Highly recommended, but beware of getting the Uwe Boll title!

Alone in the Dark 1982 - ROCKS!

Written by Robert Shaye (President of New Line) and directed by Jack Sholder.
Three years later Sholder directed the super homo-erotic Elm Street 2.

And before that, Sholder did the equally Freudian "The Hidden," didn't he?

I dug R-Point.

So did Neon.

(ETA: I completely doinked the phrasing of that. So fixed.)

All four titles are a great find (plus American Gothic- Steiger rocks!)
Vital is a bit slow but creepy. A different pace from Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo, Snake in June) but effective.
Tartan was almost always reliable for strong presentation and fun titles.
Miss them.

Co-signed.

IIRC, most, if not all, of them had DTS tracks, too. :(
At 1:26 the magic happens.

I'll only be on facebook if there are new vids of the Punisher or another free mouse pad event. - K

I was bummed to hear they went down too, their presentation of A Tale of Two Sisters was amazing, thankfully I grabbed the unrated 2-disc ($2.50 from the same seller :D)

Who are we supposed to rely on for the upcoming Asian releases? Magnolia grabbed The Host, but no one else seems to be producing the same high volume and quality as Tartan

Tokyo Shock (Media Blasters?) is hit or miss, but I find when they hit, they do pretty well. Not up to the Tartan standard, but not bad. (When they miss, it's teh suck, though.)
