Saw this today in 3D. Pretty much rocked. Kind of a cool focus for this movie, and I hope they make a sequel, but I'm thinking they won't. I'm a big fan of Alien though, so if you're not it might be kind of boring. If you've seen Alien over and over again for the last 30 years, you'll probably like it.

The very end of the movie, when the Alien crawls out of the big guy, because it wasn't the 'Alien' from the other movies, it was the original really bad rubber suit Alien from the original that they never showed all at once because it looked so ridiculous because it was just a dude in a bad rubber suit with a big head. But here they showed it all, and it worked and I think it was a total nod to the original.

I also really hoped at the beginning when they were watching the holograms of the guys hauling ass through the tunnels that it was going to end up being what happened when the Predator race first met the Aliens.

I Redboxed this last night. I did not like it at all.

It was beautifully shot, and Michael Fassbender was fantastic in it.

I just had some issues with it. So many completely unnecessary characters. And it has the same issue I have with the Alien franchise as a whole. You've seen one, you've seen them all. It's almost the exact same set of plot points as all the others. (Doesn't mean I don't like Alien and Aliens)

Also, the Ancient Aliens idea was kind of lame. Kept waiting for a cameo:



That said, I will watch the sequel whenever that comes out.

Because of the difference of the birthed Alien at the end, I think there is some evolutionary points that need to be hit before it reaches Alien. Curious to see where it goes, and as I said earlier, it was nice to look at.

1) You should know that I don't take anything serious you say, as you claim to be content watching Alien Resurrection every day on HBO.
2) WTF are you you talking about with the "difference of the birthed Alien at the end, I think there is some evolutionary points that need to be hit before it reaches Alien." That was the original Alien costume from Alien. You're saying that the actual alien from Alien has to evolve a lot to become the alien in Alien.
3) OMG I wish you would please take a science class. This has nothing to do with the ancient aliens TV show.
4) Too many characters?! So, it should've been 3 people, sitting around smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee like some black and white pseudo intellectual Jim Jaramusch movie? WTF are you even talking about too many caharacters? OMG.

I would put almost any Jarmusch up against Prometheus.

Not too many characters. Too many unnecessary characters. One of the biggest characters in the story, Charlize Theron, completely unnecessary other than to fuck Stringer Bell so he isn't watching the feed when the geologists get killed. And to make you think that the Med Pod is for her until the ZOMG twist that everyone saw coming.
