Attack the Block
Just watched this tonight. Highly recommended. Good companion to Super 8. Surprised DJ hasn't mentioned this.

It was on my GetGlue feed on Facebook. Agreed it's a great film, loved every minute of it (with maybe the ending pushing believability just a little bit). How did you get on with the accents? I found it quite difficult myself, so it would be interested to hear how a non-native coped with it.

I didn't have any problems with the accents. I know you've got a large variation of accents there, I had a roommate who grew up in London and scared a British woman we worked with because he was able to pinpoint the housing project she grew up in from hers. I think as a septic, when I watch something like that I'm already listening more vigilantly due to odd slang and that kind of thing, so a thick accent doesn't really matter. They just all sounded like the kids on Skins to me. I know what you mean though, I'll have the same problem with thick american accents.
I think may favorite people in that movie were Probs and Mayhem. "No one will ever call you Mayhem if you keep acting like such a pussy."

I gotta admit, I can't figure why I'm not on board with everybody on this.
I watched it, thought the creatures looked very cool, but not only could I barely understand the characters(and I didn't have a hard time following any of Guy Ritchie's flicks like Lock Stock and Snatch), but I found I didn't like ANY of the characters.
I was sort of rooting for them all to get eaten. On the whole, I was kind of bored by it.

And that is why you'll never make a great British movie.

You can probably just take the "British" out of that, you know?
