Have you forgotten that Hollywood had plans for yet another take on Stephen King's Carrie? Don't fret if you did. We've tried to, but it's our job to keep our finger on the pulse of what's brewing in development and the Carrie remake is most certainly alive, a director is circling the project and...it might actually be a good fit.

Kimberly Peirce is in talks to helm the redo for MGM/Screen Gems. The latter company gave us the somewhat recent remakes The Stepfather and Prom Night.

What makes Peirce an interesting choice is her previous efforts. She helmed Boys Don't Cry in '99, directed a few episodes of The L Word and also helmed Stop-Loss. Peirce is probably comfortable with a story like Carrie which concerns themes of bullying and female empowerment.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa penned the script which is said to be closer to the source material than Brian DePalma's film starring Sissy Spacek.

I'm definitely down for this because while I liked the first version, I never liked the Billy Nolan character. He wasn't some goofy alcoholic in the book, but a budding sociopath.

I can't abide by any movie done with Carrie. It doesn't matter how awesome it is, it's got nothing to do with the actors or the story. Forever, Carrie = naked Sissy Spacek getting her period in the shower. I was like 8 when I saw that. Some things, once seen, can never be unseen.
