Single player is fun in an OK-ish kind of way. The bots are fairly smart and don't obstruct or hinder your gameplay, plus they are always there to help when a smoker or hunter pins you down. Playing with actual human players in coop is just awesome. Franticly trying to locate a fallen player to revive him in time or get a zombie of his back just feels great. I'm really looking forward to play this on my 360. Though my dated PC was able tun run the demo quite well, probably because of Valve's very scalable Source engine.

I downoaded the 360 demo today and have to agree with everything you said. Fantastic game. The single player mode is a lot of fun, and the bots are nothing but helpful. They actually kill zombies competently and save you without ever getting in your way. I was worried it was going to be more like the Resident Evil online games where the bots don't do a whole lot other than block doors and cause you grief. I bring up the RE:online games because that's what this basically is, but with a cohesive storyline, updated graphics, plenty of ammo for great weapons... um, basically everything the RE:online wasn't.
I've only played a couple of online matches with it, but I think squad tactics are going to be really important here. My groups died fairly quickly because people weren't saving eachother, weren't clearing areas properly, and were going into areas way too soon. Basically not taking the shots of opportunity when you can from the safe areas, like clearing out the subway steps and all that from behind the safe room door and just charging in ham-handedly. I think this is a game that we really need to get a HT squad playing, because we'll kick the monkey's ass.
I was going to put this one off until it hit the used bin. After playing the demo though...

Got my 360 back from MS and played a few rounds of the L4D demo with it. It's really astonishing how a game that enforces coop brings out the good in people. The people I played with usually stuck together and worked as a team quite well. The talk over Live! was pleasent as well. I haven't run into n*gger fa**ot screaming idiots or squeling 13yr olds that infest other XBox games. The only grieve I have is that people don't always understand how the AI director works. There where instances -especially on advanced and expert difficulty settings- where people didn't advance fast enough, which the AI director usually punishes with a horde attack. So cleaning out is important, but advancing is also and sometimes running is a viable option too. People have to get it in their heads, that there are no save areas except for the save room at the end of the level.
PS: An awful lot of chicks are playing this. Coop zombie killing seems to attract the women folk.

I agree, they are. From what I've experienced, people aren't necessarily playing smart, but they are cooperative. I've only played about 5-6 coop games, but we've only made it to the end twice, and rarely do people go open doors and collect the extras that are scattered around the game. It seems almost everybody is sticking to the tight little group and moving in a pack. On a lot of the games I'd be the only one splitting off, opening doors and grabbing pills, molotovs, etc. And even in the most incompetent groups, people have been fast to lend assistance when it's needed. I think the incompetencies will change when it's actually released. People will learn not to dive in head first when they can stand back and pick off zombies safely, etc.

I will probably get my copy soon. I just got an email from Amazon saying if I use coinstar they'll give me like a $10 giftcard or some such thing. If I cash in the coin at coinstar, I may have enough for this and that other "Dead" game.
