Pioneer BDP-51FD on sale at Amazon for $299

For those who have not bought a Blu-ray player yet this is a great deal for a Japanese manufactured BD player.

It also decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA to 7.1 analog for receivers that are not HDMI. (Firmware for DTS due late March, early April)

I'm surprised nobody has commented on this deal yet. Some retailers are selling it for as low as $266 now. Pioneer dropped the price so it should be sub $300 everywhere.

While the PS3 is a great BD player, if you have an older receiver this profile 1.1 player will decode the new audio formats. For me that ability (I have t in my new player) will make my receiver last many years more, thus preserving my investment.

I'm just not in the market for a BR player right now. My plasma took a dump on me a few weeks ago, so no HD or anything anymore for me.

I'd pick one up for $266, unfortunately the lowest price here in Germany is 380€ ($480).
