Why is it I'm a prude for never touching alcohol, and yet, when someone practically addicted to the stuff decides to turn their lives around and do the same thing I've been doing all my life, they get unconditional love and support?

I'm just saying it's a double standard. I'm not a prude for my choice. I don't go around yelling, "Look at me! I'm not drinking! Woohoo! Aren't I great!!?"

I don't expect an award for not drinking. It's not a competition to me. It's a lifestyle choice. The only thing I expect is some respect for my decision. I'm sick to death of people getting all pissy when they find out I don't drink, just because they're insecure about whether I'm judging them, or that I think I'm better than them. Seriously, get over it.

Pick better people to hang out with. We had a friend growing up that never drank, and we never gave him shit. Plus he was always designated driver, so we loved him even more for that. :lol:

Trust me, I don't hang out with these people afterwards. It's usually just a chance encounter anyway. The "friend of a friend" scenario.

Damn. We can't hang out now. I will always be worried that I will forget you don't drink and offer you copious amounts of alcohol incessantly.

If it makes you feel better, I get the same thing in regards to pot. People act like I'm 5-0 when I don't smoke. Like you said, it's a lifestyle choice.
