I couldn't agree with this more. Those were completely unnecessary and unneeded. The second time I read the book, I didn't even bother with those.
I'm reading Misery now and I just got to the first Misery's Return excerpt. I tried reading maybe the first paragraph and then remembered this post and skipped it. They talk about what happens in the excerpt anyway.

I haven't read this in a while and I forgot two things:
1. How much I enjoyed it.
2. How so very close it is to The Stand in its own way.
This should be a movie instead of Twilight.

I forget if I'd read that one or not. What's it about? Was that an e version or a paper one?

A nuclear war happens, and the people left standing form two sides. Good vs. evil, basically.

Cool, I don't think I read that one. I went through a phase where that's all I was reading and I think maybe that was one I didn't get around to but wanted. I was thinking it might've been the story with the douce bag with a hammer, but I think that was Earth Abides.

I'm currently reading Swan Song by Robert McCammon. I just finished Who Goes There? by Someone with the last name of Campbell.

Finished Under the Dome by Stephen King.
Fantastic book. It probably would be my favorite from King, as it's an intense page-turner the whole way through (this is impressive, considering it's 1072 pages). My only complaint is the last 25-or-so pages. They are completely stupid and very, very underwhelming. Let's just say King felt any explanation for the dome would be better than none, and he didn't get it right at all.
I really hope HBO makes a mini-series out of this, but uses a more suggestive ending.

Like I said, it's phenomenal till the very end, when King starts explaining things and pulls a "deus ex machina." I'm starting to see what Neon was saying a while back when we were discussing Desperation.

Does someone pray at the end and God solves all the problems?
